If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi, Wow I thought that it was only me and that maybe I'm just weird with reactions that I have. Did the doctors give you any ideas on what they thought? I've given up with doctors because I think, that they think, that I'm just crazy. But I'm not and I know that it is mainly food related when things go weird. I worked out that it was most definitley wheat that caused the dryness and also dairy. Each in it's own way. If I ate cake or bread (I work in a bakery!) I would start to dehydrate and I would have no saliva and no amount of water would make a difference. I actually suspect starch as well as I am NSD now (you can check the diet forum) and mostly feel good. Perhaps try a gluten free diet to start with. Dairy would make my skin dry and split and bleed. Mainly my hands, but also my lips if I kept consuming it in some way. I can eat hard cheese every now and again but never milk. I think at the time of that post I was eating bought grated tasty cheese that has starch in it to stop it sticking together. It was a double whammy. So try gluten and dairy free and check out the NSD and diet related forum as well. Hope this helps. Another question, do you ever get red glowing ears? I've found that this is a starch reaction too. Kim

hi all,
My dehydration started after I had tried some of the new COX-2 inhibitors (well they were new at the time I tried them). I had been having this dehydration for a couple of years. I finally got over it in the last 6 months or so.
I wasn't taking any medications and for many many months (over a year I think) and the dehydration continued regardless. I went strict NSD (I finally cut out rice) and after a few months the dehydration finally went away.

i live in florida and in the summers here it is hot BUT NOT DRY!!! we ahve lots of humid rain storms in which you would think that a person would not become dehydrated but I do. it is awful and i dont know the whys or where fors but it is worse if i live in cold places for my skin. i can not take lots of showers. yeach i know it sounds funky but the water seems to dehydrate my skin even worse. i drink tons of water and keeep my nasaid use to a bare minimum. i take norco 325/10 2x's day. sometimes i fade back with that if i dont need to take it. but my skin even though i use celadrin which has salmon oil and esterfied oils doesnt hepl me. i was told to drink aloe vera juice. my body doesnt like aloe vera juice. but how do i keep up the hydration? this is a real problem for me. i dont sweat alot. i dont exercise alot though either on average i take 3 showers a week every other day i do not smell. i had to quit using anti persperant and use baby powder for under arms or talc. it is less drying thatn those other under arm deoderants. i suppose a certain amount of this may be owed to getting older also. i take vit b complex. i do not use bleach in my laundry as i was told this can casue drying of the skin also.

That is normal.. The hot water strips away the oils from your skin - and that is what causes the skin to dry out. A friend of mine uses a bit of baby oil [not much] every day to stop her skin drying out.

I tried some rice a couple of says back and the night dehydration came back, as did some pain and stiffness, and also my backside started to itch a lot [ahem... benefits of being anonymous...]
Well some ppl will think that last bit of info was unnecessary, but I don't think so. It happens like clock work when I eat rice. I believe it is linked with the dehydration and the health of the epithelium (gut / skin health)
After about 4 days without starch everything has *almost* returned to normal. No more itching and the dehydration is virtually gone.

This "may" not fit here but I will share anyway. I have been up and down all night getting rid of a lot of fluid. My dr. told me that it has to do with laying down and gravity. I am retaining fluid during the day and getting rid of it at night. I drink a couple of glasses of water through the night. Now she is giving me a low dose Lasix in the a.m. (not every day) to help me get rid of water during the day and not so much at night. I am VERY dry at night; worse with the ceiling fan on and worse in the summer when the a/c is pulling moisture out of the air. Worse after having been outside in the heat late in the day. I use drops and moisturizers for everything. They are lined up on my nightstand. Also I sometimes put a damp washcloth on my face. One other thing I will share.....when my hubby went on Methotrexate his skin completely cleared up. He mentioned it to the rheumy and he said tht sometimes Mtx is used just for the psorisis and related skin problems. I wish you relief. Blessings Possi

Yes it is difficult at first. It took time to adapt to having meat, nuts and fruit as the primary energy source. I try to keep some fruit or trail mix (dried fruit + nuts) around wherever I go..
Also lots of almond meal for baking: cakes / muffins, almond bread, and even some kind of almond porridge :-)

It seems highly unlikely that fluid retention would lead to excessive dehydration at night. Fluid retention could *perhaps* explain the Nocturia (frequent urination at night).. but not in my opinion the dehydration part. * Article on Nocturia http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003141.htm

i am now taking omega 3 fish oil to help with the skin dryness on top of-i know it sounds redundant) celadrin salmon oil for my high cholestrol, the woman at the health food store told me celadrin is for imflamtion and omega 3 fish oil is for dry skin. i think one should work as well as the other dont you?
